2013 USA Spacemodeling Team Announced for European Championships


USA Spacemodeling is pleased to present the 2013 USA Team for the European Championships. Scheduled for August 24-30 in Kaspichan, Bulgaria, the meet will take place on the same field as the 2014 World Championships. Team members include:
·      Chris Flanigan (Assistant Senior Team Manager), two-time individual gold medal winner;
·      Alyssa Stenberg, individual silver medal winner in radio controlled boost glide;
·      Zak Stenberg, individual bronze medal winner in radio controlled boost glide;
·      James Duffy, individual silver medal winner in the scale altitude event
·      Matt Steele (Team Manager), two-time individual bronze medal winner;
·      Steve Kristal, noted scale modeler with his popular Apollo Abort Capsule;
·      Emma Kristal, altitude and scale modeler on the last two US Junior Teams;
·      Stoil Avramov, competing for the US for the first time on the Junior Team
·      Jon Stenberg (Assistant RC Team Manager);
·      Katie Steele (Junior Team Manager)

The team plans to compete in the entire spectrum of FAI Spacemodeling events, including:
1. S1A (Altitude Models - 0 to 2.5 NS) – Junior
2. S1B (Altitude Models - 2.51-5.00 NS) - Senior
3. S3A (Parachute Duration Models - 0 to 2.5 NS) - Senior and Junior
4. S4A (Boost Glider Duration Models 0 to 2.5 NS) - Senior and Junior
5. S5B (Scale Altitude Model 2.51-5.0 NS) – Junior
6. S5C (Scale Altitude Models) – Senior
7. S6A (Streamer Duration Models - 0 to 2.5 NS) - Senior and Junior
8. S7 (Scale) - Senior and Junior
9. S8D (Rocket Glider Duration - 10.01 to 20.00 NS) -Junior
10. S8E/P (Rocket Glider Duration and Precision Landing Models) - Senior
11. S9A (Gyrocopter Duration Models - 0 to 2.5 NS) - Senior and Junior

This is basically a “warm up” for the 2014 World Championships, to be held on the same field a year later. This will help us compete with the European teams on a more even basis.
